When asked about her thought process before choosing the film, Ridhi said,“My thought process was that you know, in today’s world of social media, misinformation, misinterpretation, and judgments happen very quickly. There’s such an overload of information that nobody has the time to assess what’s true, what’s false, or what’s worth commenting on. Everyone has an opinion on everything, and it’s not that I’m a saint who isn’t affected by things. But as an actor, I’ve always chosen work that gives me a chance to say something as a citizen of our country.”
Dogra continues, “Early in my career, I tried to play roles that could inspire women watching me, so they could take something positive from the character I portrayed. Television, especially, reaches small towns and rural areas. In my second year in the industry, I attended an event in a smaller city. I remember going to the markets, meeting people, and seeing that the sarees my character wore were being sold there. In one household, I learned that a woman had made a major life decision after seeing my character. That opened my eyes and made me realize that as an actor, I have a responsibility. Because people show us a lot of love on television. I decided back then that I would be selective in my choices. I would only be doing work that I could be proud of even 10 years later.”
Ridhi Dogra added, “In the OTT space, I’ve taken up roles in shows like Asur, Badtameez Dil, Married Woman and even in films, such as playing the mother of Shah Rukh Khan in Jawan. I took on that role to show that an actress’s time is not up based on age. I’ve already played a 60-year-old character, so now what can anyone say? It’s my way of taking a stand.”

Speaking about doing only selective roles, Ridhi Dogra said, “Another decision I made was after the Nirbhaya case, which deeply shook me. I decided that I would never take on roles that objectify me. If the story demands it for a character, that’s different. But I won’t do music videos or dance numbers. Esepecially where my only role is to look pretty and wear glamorous outfits. Wear sex clothes, just look hot and something like that. I felt that taking a stand in my career choices was something I could do in response to what happened.”
